Assessing Us

Will Training Deliver You the Results You Seek?

Before embarking on a discussion of the topics covered by our courses, you need to ask yourself, "Will training provide you with the improvements in performance you are looking for?"

The challenges faced for your organisation with the training initiative on which you are looking to embark relate primarily to the following issues.

Four Questions

  1. Will the training event that you organise be motivating, and will the training be valuable to you and to your Company?
  2. Will the training event deliver the skills and knowledge you need, and how will you be able to demonstrate to your Management that you have acquired these skills?
  3. Once you get back to work, will you use the skills and the knowledge you acquired on the course?
  4. Finally, can you determine whether the improvements that have occurred after the training have more than covered the costs associated with the training you have to taken?

Kirkpatrick's Four Levels of Evaluation

Cost/Benefit, Application, Skills & Knowledge, Reaction

These four questions can be summarised as:

  1. Staff's reaction to the training
  2. Skills and knowledge acquired
  3. Application back at work
  4. Cost benefit

What we do

Because we are very concerned - almost driven - about results we have processes in place to assess our performance at each of these levels.

  1. We collect information at the end of each course - Level 1
  2. We assess throughout the course the degree of learning - Level 2
  3. The Action Planning Form provides a tool to assist and support the transfer of learning - Level 3
  4. At our post-course visit we assess the cost benefit - Level 4

The Most Critical Factor

The learner's manager, supervisor, team leader and so on - whatever title they may have - is the one critical factor in ensuring maximum benefit from any investment in training.
