Over 2,700 Australians are killed each year as a result of work-related accidents and incidents. Many more Australians are required to take extended leave absences due to illnesses or other nonfatal workplace accidents in which they experience physical injuries. The accidents and injuries are expensive for employees, employers and all Australian taxpayers.
